Summerhill Beautiful and Comfortable Family Log Cabin

Hand hewn from nearly 10,000 board feet of local California mountain white pine and constructed on site, Laurel Lodge is a unique cabin in the Strawberry/Pinecrest area. Described as “graceful, solid, practical and finely crafted,” this delightful log home, built 50 years ago by visiting Swedish craftsmen in their vintage style, offers an exquisite glimpse into bygone times – while providing the comforts and amenities you expect today. This bright cabin has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms in the main cabin, and, optionally, an additional bedroom and bath in the detached studio.

A dramatic fireplace, overstuffed furniture, cozy quilts, and warm vintage décor will draw you to the great room – whether to read a book, play a game, or watch a movie.

Prepare full meals in the thoroughly equipped sparkling kitchen or step out onto the wrap-around deck and fire up the grill. Laurel Lodge welcomes you.

Your bedroom awaits you with bright and cheerful bedding on the king size bed, uplifting original art, and all the amenities you might expect including a cozy, quiet sitting area, and a private set of doors out onto the deck. Tranquil afternoons and peaceful mornings are calling. Plenty of closet space, a dresser and your private bath round out this space.

The guest bedrooms in the main cabin are similar – a queen size bed in one and a twin-over-twin bed in the other, sleep up to 4 more in comfort. Extra blankets and pillows let your family snuggle in.

The private detached studio cabin offers a queen-sized bed, a sitting area, private bath, a coffee and tea bar, separate entrance, and a dedicated porch. It’s perfect for your parents, a couple, or the kids who want to stay up and sleep in late.

The study, off the kitchen, offers a full, comfortable, workspace away from your office. We’ve both worked on the road for years and years and understand what you need to be productive. Please note that our internet service provider is Starlink -- which is great for streaming movies and general web browsing, but can be a challenge for video teleconferencing -- like Zoom.

Physically the cabin sits on a large lot full of cedar, pine, and spruce trees, native bushes, western gray squirrels, chaparral chipmunks, and a variety of native hummingbirds. Every once in a while you might see a mule deer walk through.

The cabin includes high-speed wireless internet, a DVD player in the great room, and smart TVs in the great room, primary bedroom, and the studio cabin. Basic conveniences like heat, air conditioning, and a whole house generator ensure your comfort year-round.

The driveway and parking area is large enough to park your boat or camp trailer if you bring it along. Please limit car parking to 2 cars.
